Training : Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital
Jawaharlal Nehru
Hospital
is one of the premiere health care institutions of Govt. of
Mauritius which provides tertiary quality healthcare and
medical facilities to the people of Mauritius. The
foundation stone of the Hospital was laid in October 1984 by
Shri Zail Singh, the President of India. The first phase
of the project began in 1985 and the Hospital was opened
officially on 14th November 1990, the birth anniversary of
Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister in whose memory
the hospital is named. The bed strength of hospital is 550 and
is likely to be increased by Govt. of Mauritius.
The students of Padmashree
Dr.D.Y.Patil Medical College will be provided clinical
training in the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital.
The hospital provides totally free
services to the patients; hence there is plenty of clinical
material available for post graduate students which are a
great asset for the post graduate clinical studies including
surgical and clinical experience.
An agreement has been made
with the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, for training
of our students in this hospital. The existing facilities at
the hospital satisfy the training norms laid down by the
Medical Council of Mauritius.
