College Infrastructure

The Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College is planned in the heart of this paradise near Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, Rose Belle. It is planned over about 25 acres of sugar cane land. Lecture halls, library, computing facilities including e-library, seminar halls, canteen and other facilities are planned in phases. The ladies and gentlemen's hostels are planned separately. The Padmashree Dr.D.Y. Patil Medical College follows the curriculum based on the latest guidelines laid down by the Medical Council of Mauritius and Medical Council of India.

University of Technology, Mauritius will be the awarding body for the post graduate students. The Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital of Mauritian Government, Ministry of Health & Quality of Life department is attached to the medical college, so that the first phase can be started in this academic session. Initially college will start at the Prisma House, Quatre Borne where modern and excellent infrastructure is available for the teaching rooms, library, computer facilities, seminar hall and other necessary facilities.

Faculty:
The management of the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College is fully aware of the challenges as well as opportunities of opening the first post graduate medical college in Mauritius. As such, the Managing Director Mr. Sanjay D. Patil has laid down a policy of taking the blend of senior and young, energetic, best faculty with international exposure and profound academic experience.

Laboratory Facilities:
The institution along with the hospital will have adequate laboratory facilities for the training of the Post Graduate students, and such laboratories will provide all the investigative facilities required and will be regularly updated keeping in view the advancement of knowledge and technology and research requirements, and for training of students in non-clinical departments, proper and contemporary laboratory facilities will be made available.

Training Programme:
All candidates joining the post graduate training programme will work as full time residents during the period of training, attending not less than the requirements as per the university, of the training during each calendar year, and given full time responsibility, assignments and participation in all facets of the educational process.

If candidate is willing to complete one year training programme in India (especially Kolhapur or Mumbai), it’s possible to make the provision for the same.

The duration of the Post Graduate course is 3 years divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each from the date of commencement of the course.
